The Encyclopedia of Monsters was a community based art project created for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Artist-in-Residence for 2025. The project involved a series of workshops in which community members explored a difficult memory or experience, broke it down into character design and storytelling elements through creative prompts, and then used those elements to create their own monster character. At the end of each workshop, monsters were collected and added to a hand-bound book in which I used discarded art, old journal entries, and other recycled ephemera to create inspired collages around each piece. The book was displayed at CLP - Allegheny upon the completion of the residency.

The goal of this project was to introduce creativity as a form of emotional literacy, allowing community members to explore and share their feelings in a safe, supportive, and creative way.
